LESS THAN A WEEK LEFT TO REGISTER FOR THE ISPE GOLF TOURNAMENT ON MAY 2ND!!
Don't miss out on this fun event and a chance to spend a Friday afternoon golfing and supporting worthwhile programs for area 7th and 8th graders. The 2007 tournament was the largest tournament to date with 29 teams and more than 18 hole sponsors raising $4500, $1500 of which went to support the Idaho Regional Future City Competition and $3000 went towards the ISPE SW Chapter MATHCOUNTS program.

Your continued support of the tournament and these programs is very much appreciated and needed.

Registrations are due by Thursday, April 24.

2008 Future City Finals Wrap-up

LAST CALL!! DON’T MISS THE DEADLINE....
CALL FOR ISPE AWARD NOMINATIONS
Each year ISPE selects outstanding Idahoans in recognition of their engineering accomplishments and contributions to the engineering profession. Awards will be presented during the 2008 Annual Meeting in Boise. Nominations must be submitted no later than May 9, 2008. Award criteria and nomination forms can be obtained from the ISPE web site, or by contacting the ISPE office at 208-426-0636.

The awards for which we are looking for nominees include:

Idaho Engineering Hall of Fame: Given by ISPE to recognize Idahoans that have made engineering contributions beyond Idaho i.e. nationally or world wide.

Idaho Excellence in Engineering Award: To recognize an Idahoan who is distinguishing themselves in engineering.

Idaho Excellence in Engineering Educator Award: This award recognizes an Engineering Educator who has had a significant impact on the engineering profession in Idaho.

Young Engineer of the Year Award: To recognize an engineer that is making a contribution to their profession. Must be no more than 35 years old.

Self nominations are welcomed and encouraged.

One-half of a road construction project was completed by 6 workers in 12 days. Working at the same rate, what is the smallest number of workers needed to finish the rest of the project in exactly four days?

A right pyramid has a square base that measures 10 cm on each side. Its peak is 12 cm above the center of its base. What is the sum of the lengths of the pyramid’s eight edges? Express your answer to the nearest whole number.

At a particular speed, a jumbo jet can travel its own length in 20 seconds. At this same speed, the jumbo jet taxied completely past a 710-foot-long hangar in 70 seconds, as shown. What is the length of the jumbo jet?
