Celebrating Idaho’s Engineering Achievements – Focusing
on Critical Issues of the Future
The multi-faceted world of engineering is
experiencing change at a quicker pace than perhaps ever before. All the more
reason to be involved in organizations that gauge the professional climate and
focus our attention on the important issues of today – organizations like the
Idaho Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE). There is no better way to keep
up, move up, and stay ahead!
As a member of ISPE, you have access to the latest technical, educational, and
legislative news. And you are able to contribute to some of the most successful
engineering service programs, such as MATHCOUNTS and E-WEEK. In addition, you
have the opportunity each year to attend the ANNUAL MEETING – a three-day
event offering unique guest speakers and topics, technical seminars, and the
opportunity to meet engineers from all across the state.
This year’s program has been assembled by the Magic Valley Chapter and we are
excited to announce the following participants and topics:
|
Teresa A. Helmlinger, Current
NSPE President will be attending. |
|
A guest from PENREN, the
Pentagon Renovation Program, will provide a description of the Phoenix Project
(renovation.pentagon.mil/Phoenix/Phoenix.htm) |
|
Project Modeling in Virtual
Space |
|
Engineering Education in
Idaho |
|
Status of the Nuclear Power
Industry (current commercial plants, closing the fuel cycle, advanced
generation plants) |
|
Reconstruction of Iraq’s
Infrastructure: What is it like on the ground? |
|
And technical subjects such
as groundwater modeling and water issues, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act
and the permitting process (including recent changes and requirements),
geotechnical and structural analysis performed at Ground Zero, and Idaho’s
power consumption, generation, and grid strength, among others. |
You will want to be a part of
this year’s annual meeting - an event sure to offer good engineering training, a
chance to meet new acquaintances, and a place for you and your spouse to enjoy
good food and entertainment. Make your reservations early!
Program and registration information is being distributed via U.S. mail or
