NSPE Award
Application
The NSPE Award is the highest award given to an individual by the Society. It
is given to an engineer who has made outstanding contributions to his or her
profession, public welfare, and/or mankind.
Nominations may be made by any member of NSPE in good standing but must be
approved by the candidate's state society. A state society is not limited to the
approval of a single candidate. Nominations should include a biography with an
executive summary prepared in accordance with the guidelines provided by the
Honor Award Committee. Nominations should reach NSPE Headquarters in
septuplicate by February 1.
The candidate shall be an engineer of recognized standing, preferably
registered, a citizen of the United States, and should not be an officer or
director of the National Society. Candidates for the award shall be weighed in
the following particulars:
- Professional integrity shall be beyond question.
- Professional reputation shall be more than local character.
- The undertaking or services upon which the award is based shall be of high
order.
- There shall be more than an ordinary relationship between the undertaking
or services and the public welfare, the military affairs of the country, and
the good of mankind.
- Preference should be given candidates who have consistently promoted the
social and professional interests of the engineer.
