Summer 2003 Edition
President's Message
by Karen Doherty, PE
ISPE – It’s YOUR Organization
To kick off ISPE’s new year, your state and local leadership team updated our
Strategic Plan. The full plan is available for review on the ISPE website,
www.IdahoSPE.org.
ISPE’s strategic goals are as follows:
Goal #1 To promote the competent, ethical, and professional practice of
engineering.
Goal #2 To enhance the image and stature of engineering professionals.
Goal #3 To provide education, career development, networking opportunities, and
other benefits to engineering professionals and students.
Goal #4 To maintain an effective government relations program to protect the
public and advocate the interests of engineering professionals.
Goal #5 To align the structure, activities, and governance of the society to
optimize support and resources for all programs.
Each of our standing committees has a role in fulfilling these goals through
their activities during the year. I have asked all of the state committee chairs
to fill their committee with dedicated volunteers from each of our chapters, so
expect a call in the next few weeks from a committee chair asking for help.
Better yet, look on page three in this newsletter and secure your spot on a
committee by contacting the chair and VOLUNTEERING! Volunteers are the
livelihood of this organization and I challenge you to provide your expertise
for committee work. ISPE – It’s YOUR Organization!
