The Block Fest Building Challenge is Back!
February 6, 2007 the Building Challenge will take place at the Banner
Bank Building in downtown Boise, Idaho from 4-5:30pm. Two categories –
Junior/High School Students and Adults – will each compete to see who can build
the tallest, widest, and best engineered tower out of 1,000 non-interlocking
wooden blocks.
Now in its second year, the Building Challenge provides funds to the University
of Idaho Parents as Teachers program, which provides services to children and
families throughout Idaho. In addition to supporting PAT, the winning teams in
each category will receive $1,000 for first place and $500 for second place to
donate to an educational institution of their choice. The funds from this event
go directly to resources and services for Idaho families!
Come participate and support early childhood in Idaho! Block play has
been shown to help young children learn early math and science skills that
greatly affect their abilities in elementary school, high school and beyond. As
young adults and professionals, you will be demonstrating the connection between
block play and math when you compete in the Building Challenge!
